The marble fox sat comfortably under the mantelpiece for fourteen years, then one day an iron horseshoe fell and broke its muzzle. Shards of marble littered the floor and became embedded in the rug. One such shard remained pointed up in the rug for quite some time. It was this very shard that punctured the servant's foot; he later died from an infection. One iron horseshoe cast by a blacksmith which broke a fox and killed a man, I wonder what became of the horse?
